Grateful Hearts

You are invited to join my revised Facebook group page, Grateful Hearts.

Life is all about connecting and giving thanks. The purpose of this page is to express gratitude for the good we have been given that is all around us. To share insights on how to come from the heart with gratitude and peace while praising my Savior, Jesus Christ.

Did You Know...giving thanks is good for your overall health and wellness. Not only does it boost brain capacity, but it also provides an increased sense of well-being. As you practice gratitude, anxiety and depression risks decrease, freeing up your ability to focus on the most important memories and loved ones. Gratitude can also affect the brain by releasing more positive neurotransmitters and lessening the stress hormone.

Gratitude Post: Holy Week Begins

I am grateful for Holy Week when we retrace Jesus' final steps on Earth. An amazing journey that in one short week began as a triumphant entry and ended with His death and resurrection from the tomb.
Jesus did not turn away from the people. He continued to heal the sick and paralytic, the blind, the lepers. Rumors of Lazarus’ return from the tomb made its way amongst the crowds. Just who was this man?
No doubt, this was Jesus’ big day, the disciples as well. Put yourself in their shoes as they searched for the donkey Jesus would ride into Jerusalem. Surely, this sign and Zechariah’s prophetic announcement would be enough to proclaim Jesus as the long awaited messiah. Jesus would be known as their King, and His earthly Kingdom on earth would be established.
Reflecting allows us to draw upon a strength that is beyond ourselves, both natural and inspirational. All so important as we enter the holy time of Palm Sunday.

John 12:13: They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the king of Israel!”

Gratitude Post: I Shall Not Want when the Lord is my Shepherd

I am grateful when shepherds take their job seriously and keep their flocks safe and traveling on the correct path. Not only do they do this as a part of their job, but they also have a compassionate heart for those who depend upon them for their livelihood. Their flocks know they are important to them.

As children of God we feel the same love and devotion towards our great shepherd, Jesus Christ. Not only does He meet our needs, but He provides a way for us to come home by giving His life as an atonement for our sins.

I’ve heard that one way to experience feelings of satisfaction is to pray the first verse of Psalm 23 over your pantry, for the Lord is true to His word. He provides for us in ways that are abundantly more than we could ever ask or imagine.

As our guide and protector, He knows each one of His children by name. When we lose our way, He does not nag or berate us. His Holy Spirit simply directs us onto the correct path, and we are greeted with love when we return.

Psalm 23:1 “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.”
